Sex in the City has quickly become a cult series because of its unique sense of style, its glamorous friendships and, obviously, its unconditional love for New York City’s luxurious lifestyle. We thought you might enjoy one of its numerous famous properties: Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment.
The greatest fans of Sex in the City didn’t really care for all the inconsistencies of the series, one of which was Carrie Bradshaw’s lifestyle. To this day, detractors still don’t think she could have afforded an Upper East Side apartment, had she lived in the real world. According to the plot, the stylish protagonist was renting a 700 $ a month flat located at 245 E 73rd Street, between Park et Madison. As a matter of fact, the facade used in the series is located at 64 Perry Street in West Village, which has since become one of New York favorite attractions.
Like most famous properties, 64 Perry Street is visited by lots of tourists. This might explain why the building has been put up for sale in 2012. Represented by Sotheby’s International Realty and sold for 9,6 million dollars, the 4 000 square feet residence includes five bedrooms, three bathrooms, six fireplaces with carved marble mantels, and a large south-facing garden.
Designed by Robert Mook, the architect to which New York owes the William E. Ward House, the splendid property was inhabited by only two two families since construction in 1866.
